Alabama Medicaid update 1/19/2009 - Alabama Medicaid has streamlined the process of authorizing payment for medications that historically have required a trial on a preferred formulary agent. Utilizing an electronic review process that compares a new prescription claim to historical claims, the claims processing system can automatically determine if and which drugs from a particular class have already been tried and for what length of time each drug was continued.
