Medicare Part D Long-term care transition policy

1/15/2009 - With the start of a new Medicare Part D year it is important to remember that residents of long-term care facilities have access to non-formulary drugs which were covered by their previous plan for the first 90 days to allow their healthcare practitioner time to evaluate the appropriateness of formulary alternatives offered by their new Part D drug plan and/or complete any necessary paperwork to obtain prior authorization for continued coverage of their current medication.
